华语“在”在英语可用“at”和“in”
Mary lives in Taiwan.
The plane will land in Singapore.
Mary stays at a small village in Taiwan.
I like to stay at a small town but not in a big city.
你可有注意上面例子“at”和“in”的用法。
原来“at”是用于小地方如 小乡村(a small village), 小城市(a small town).
“in”是用在大城市通常多是以城市名称挂上如Taiwan, Singapore, New York.
例子：
I stay at a small apartment in Singapore.
He works at a bank in Hong Kong.
They are going to stay in a small fishing village in Penang.
但是，又看看下列的句子：
The children are in the garden.
He was waiting you in the guest room.
The students were in the classroom.
以上的句子中的 garden, guest room 和classroom 无可争论的是小型的，为何用上了“in”呢？
其实，“in”除了是“在”，“处在”还有被译为“在里面”，“在内”。
The children are in the garden. 孩子们在花园里
He was waiting you in the guest room. 他在客房内等你。
The students were in the classroom. 学生们在课堂内。
