英语就是这样( 58 ) One and ones 有什么分别呢？

你有没有听到有人讲。 “I want the small one.” 也有人说：“I want the small ones.”

这两者有什么分别呢？ 先来让我们明白 “ONE”的由来。我们用“ONE”是因为不要重复之前所讲过的东西或名词“NOUN”。

例如：

1.“ I want to buy a car. The red one is my choice.” 第二段的句子的“ONE”是指事前已讲过的车。

2. “ Those apples are from America. How about these ones?” 第二段的句子的“ONES”是指事前已讲过的苹果。

从上面这两段句子，你有没有发现到 ONE 是用在单数 (SINGULAR)的东西而 ONES 是用在复数 (PLURAL) 的东西。

还有一点须注意的是无论是“ONE”还是 “ONES”，它们都不能用于不能算(UNCOUNTABLE)的事物如水，空气等等。

“The water here is quite clean. Do you want one?” 这句子须改为“The water here is quite clean. Do you want it?”因为 水是不能算的 water is uncountable.

“ There is much sugar here. Do you need ones?” Sugar 不能算 把 句子改成“ There is much sugar here. Do you need some?”
