英语就是这样( 57 ) few and a few 和 little and a little 有什么分别呢？

There are a few people in the shop.

There are few people in the shop.

上面这两段句子到底有什么分别？或者那一个句子才是对呢？两段句子都对，只是意思有点儿不一样，有点儿不一样。

不一样是指说话者对某种情况的表达的心态。用华语来解释或翻译两者都是：“有几个人在店里。” 那个 “ a ”就难于翻译或词不达意！

在英语 “a few”是用于正面性(Positive)的心态，反之 “few”却用于负面性(Negative)的心态。

There are a few people in the shop. (还好！) 有几个人在店里。

There are few people in the shop。 （啊哟！）（只）有几个人在店里。

同样的 little 和 a little 也出现上面的问题。

I have a little time.

I have little time.

用华语来解释或翻译两者都是：“我有一点时间。” A little是用于正面性(Positive)的心态 little用于负面性(Negative)的心态.

I have a little time. (还好！) 我有一点时间。

I have little time. ( 糟糕！) 我（只）有一点时间（了）。

注意：Few 是用在可算(Countable)的事物，little 是用在不可算(Uncountable)的事物。
