英语的 due to 是 由于 或 基于的意思，但许多初学习者都把它当作因为（because）来用而忽视了due to 在英语的某些需求。一般上，due to 通常是用在 be 动词( Verb to be)之后.

1. His illness was due to tiredness.

2. The fire was due to his carelessness.

3. The poor sales were due to our poor quality of the products.

如有注意，due to 是在两个名词之中；不是动词之前或动词之后。

错误的句子如： He met with an accident due to his carelessness.

应改为 His accident was due to his carelessness.
