英语就是这样(27) 形容词……..还是动词…..

在日常生活中，我们有时看到一些商店在午餐时间或休息时间，门外挂上了告示或通告；“The shop is close”，“Business is close for lunch”等等。如你有注意，你可能会发现“close”这`个字会有不一致的使用，有的商家写上“close”，有的商家却写上了“The shop is closed”，“Business is closed for lunch”， 这个“closed”是多了一个字母“d”。

到底那一个才是对？那一个是错呢？

两个都对！“CLOSE”在英语中可当形容词也可当着动词。当形容词时是“close”，如把它当动词，就成了“closed”。

同样的“Open”在英语中可当形容词也可当着动词。

还有，close 和 open 都可引用为名词。 如：

I will bring their difference to a close.

我将解决他们的不同意见。

The matter had come to a close.

此事已告一段落了。

He would participate in the American Tennis Open.

他将参加美国网球公开赛。

Many seeded players had withdrawn from the Tennis Open.

许多种子球员已经退出了网球公开赛。
