一看到或听到“Makeup”，一般人多会联想到“化妆”。如把 “Makeup”分开来写“make up”，它的意思就不同了。当然，如这字用口说，我们是不会听出到底是makeup还是 make up？ 但听完后，我们就明白整段句子的意思！

Make up是补偿，弥补。

1. The service of this restaurant was poor, however, it was made up for by the excellent food.
