什么是英文短语动词（Phrasal verbs）？它就是动词加副词或动词加介词的运用。
动词加了副词或介词产生一个不同于动词原本的意义的新义。认真来说，短语动词（Phrasal verbs）是惯用语，学习英语不可不知，不可不学。 Eat 是动词 up 是副词 eat up 就变成 吃完。
That little girl finally ate her food up.
那个小女孩终于吃完了她的食物。
看了这段句子，你就会感觉短语动词（Phrasal verbs）方便多了，你可不必用finish 只用了up就能表达了。That little girl finally finished eating her food.
Act up 是什么意思呢？ 如从字面来看，它好像是正面性的其是不然它却是负面性的，意思是麻烦，干扰。
The students in that class were acting up again.
那班的学生们再次起干扰。
Figure 是数字 或 人物 的意思 out 是 外 或 出的意思 但 把这两的字连起后figure out 就成了想出来，弄清楚。

请把问题想出来！
Carry 是携带 on 在. Carry on 却成了继续的意思。
Can you carry on playing ?
你是否能继续玩下去呢？
Phrasal verbs 英文短语动词中的副词或介词可与相关的动词分开而把他放在受词的前面。
The little girl finally ate up her food.
Please try to figure out the problem.
ate up......ate her food up
figure out......figure the problem out
