Look 是看，但加了介词 (PREPOSITION)变了动词短语 ( PHRASAL VERB), 意思就不同了。

如 look + after 是照顾，看管； look + for 是寻找，寻觅 ；look + up 也是寻找，寻觅；look forward to 是期待。

Look after 有着很直接，简单用法，不困惑！

He looks after his mother after his father passed away.

他的父亲去世后，他就照顾他的母亲。

You should look after yourself and don’t always depend on your parents.

你应该照顾好自己，不要总是依赖你的父母。

Look for 和 look up ，两者都是寻找，寻觅的意思；但需注意的是寻找的对象不同。

Look for 是找人，找东西。虽然Look up 可当着找人的意思，但它还可当着找信息，找资料。

He is looking for his sister.

他正在寻找他的妹妹.

I have lost my watch and now I am looking for it.

我丢失了我的手表，现在我在寻找它！

If you come across a difficult word, please try to look it up in the dictionary.

如果你遇到困难的字，请尝试在字典中寻找。

I have to look up in the web to find more information on my thesis.

我要在网络上寻找我的论文的信息.

The train is coming and I am looking up for you.

火车快到了，我在找你！

look forward to 是期待

I am looking forward to your wedding

我在期待着你的婚礼

We plan to go for holidays in France. We are all looking forward to it.

我们计划去法国度假。我们都期待着它。

必须注意的是look forward to 的后面的字是动名词（Gerund）如

I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.

I am looking forward to seeing my dentist tomorrow.
