The very basic knowledge of law is " Ignorance is no defence ". When you commit a crime, you cannot say you do not know there is a regulation or law prohibiting the act you have committed.
For example, You are driving at a high speed surpassing the Speed Limit, when you are caught you cannot say you do not know there is a Speed Limit.
Similarly, when you are a government servant, you are given free gifts worth million of dollars, or you are offered a unbelievable discount on your purchase, you cannot say you do not know its market price or you are not allowed to accept this.
But this basic law is now broken....Sad to know this scenario
